Charity Bike ‘n’ Blade 2007 Hits the Road!
|
| |
On 14 April, we held a road show at East Coast Park to raise awareness of Charity Bike ‘n’ Blade 2007 and to recruit cyclists and inline skaters for the event.
More than 20 volunteers had fun distributing flyers and car decals on foot, blades or bikes.
Between 8am to 12pm, we were able to get 3 sign-ups for the Malaysia leg and 2 sign-ups for the Singapore leg. With this promising start, we are expecting this number to grow significantly as we hold more participation drives.
There was a change of venue on Saturday, 12 May, when over 40 volunteers from Singapore Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic and Serangoon Junior College helped us to distribute flyers along Orchard Road. Meeting at Youth Park, they fanned out and covered Singapore's busiest shopping street all the way from Tanglin Mall to Plaza Singapura.
More importantly, during the post-event de-briefing, they contributed actively to ideas to help improve the effectiveness of our next outreach programme. So if you see Charity Bike 'n' Blade making an appearance on online forums, at bike shops and bike clubs and in supermarkets around the island, you know the volunteers have been hard at work!
